BSOC: Conference Indiana Teams Greeted With Favorable Draws

Posted On: Tuesday, September 30, 2008

Conference Indiana
teams face a variety of challenges in their first round sectional match ups of
the state soccer tournament. Generally however, the conference got favorable
draws to begin postseason play.

That is apparent no place more than at Ben Davis where the
resurgent Southport program drew a first round
game against Decatur Central and Perry Meridian received the bye. Obviously in
both instances, they avoided the host Giants until the final match of the
tournament. Also in Indianapolis,
Lawrence Central drew an opening assignment versus Heritage Christian. Township
rival Lawrence North awaits in the other bracket. Pike, one of the strongest
teams in the conference, opens tourney play against Cardinal Ritter. Franklin
Central will face Beech Grove in their opener at the Roncalli sectional.

Down south, the Bloomington
schools avoided each other in the first round. South will face host Edgewood
while North will tangle with Owen
Valley
. The form chart
says that should set up an all Bloomington
final. Columbus North, another of the league’s top teams, will open against
Trinity Lutheran at Seymour.
City rival East would await in a second round contest.
