Conference
historically play some of the toughest non-conference schedules in
no exception. Conference teams roared to a successful start in their opening
games last week. The league went 5-3 in the opening week of action. Here is the
summary.
Conference favorites Bloomington South and Perry Meridian
both started with victories. The Panthers punished
53-31. Meanwhile, Perry Meridian survived a very tough opening assignment
versus Decatur Central 60-55. South next gets a difficult test at Terre Haute
South on Tuesday while the Falcons will begin conference play this week versus
Bloomington North.
Speaking of North, the Cougars slipped past Mitchell 68-60 to
start their campaign. Also claiming wins were
and Pike. Pike barely broke a sweat in devouring Indianapolis Attucks 78-20.
Southport introduced
to life after Maggie Boyer with a 54-46 victory.
Three conference teams were not so fortunate in their season
debuts. Columbus North began with always tough
Central caught Indianapolis Northwest smarting from a defeat at the hands of
Heritage Christian and fell to the Pioneers 43-29. Finally, an improving
Whiteland team upset Franklin Central 57-40.
Conference play begins this Friday. In addition to the Perry
meridian-Bloomington North match up, Southport will travel to Bloomington South,
Pike will be entertained by Lawrence Central, and Franklin Central will travel
to
face the Bull Dogs.
