The North Montgomery Duals are on of the best tests for a
wrestling team each season. They demand seven grueling dual matches over two
days against many of the top teams in
Because they are duels, and not an individual invitational, they present numerous
challenges. Sometimes a match pits strength against strength. Other times a
team’s strength is pitted versus another squad’s weakness, and vice versa. They
are an excellent indication of a team’s position heading into the state
tournament.
To that end, give third-ranked Perry Meridian a solid A
grade. The Falcons once again won the
meet, and did it in impressive fashion. They were 7-0 over the two days and in
many instances held their opponents to less than 10 points. The Falcons were
strong throughout the lineup, but were led, as usual, by Chris Goodwin at
135lbs. and Jacob Tonte at 142lbs. The two grapplers were undefeated during the
seven matches.
Conference
rival Bloomington South was also among the competitors. The Panthers had a much
tougher time. They battled to a 2-5 record. However, many of South’s matches
were close enough that coaches can now focus on the needed areas of improvement
before tourney rime.
Here is a look at the scores from the two Conference
the video players on this page, you can see highlights of Goodwin and Tonte in
action.
