SB: Sectional draw not especially kind to Conference Indiana teams

Sometimes
the dominoes just don’t fall your way. That is how a lot of Conference Indiana
teams have to be feeling about their draw in the upcoming sectional round of
the state tourney. Lady luck was not kind in a number of instances. Here is a
quick look at the pairings.

Pike opens
action at the Avon sectional facing Ben Davis.
The winner will see Brownsburg in round two. That route is a piece of
cake compared to the road handed to Lawrence Central. The Bears start versos
North Central and would then face highly regarded, and host, Warren Central in
the next round.

In Franklin,
Franklin Central got the best of it as far as CI teams are concerned. The
Flashes drew into a bracket of Mid-State Conference teams and will open against
Whiteland. That is no picnic. But it is a lot better than the Perry Township
teams received. Southport opens against third ranked Center Grove and Perry
Meridian got a bye and will face the winner of that contest.

At East
Central, Bloomington North gets the treat of facing the always tough host Trojans.
Not only is East Central always talented, but we all know they love to oust
Conference Indiana squads. Meanwhile, Bloomington South and state ranked
Columbus North will tangle with each other in opening round action. The Bull
Dogs are the clear favorites in this field regardless of the pairings.
