FB: Conference Indiana has tough night on the gridiron

Overall,
Conference Indiana suffered through a tough night on the gridiron in week two
of the season. The league went 2-4 for the evening with one game suspended and
another scheduled for Saturday evening at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The
highlight of the evening was delivered by Southport. The Cardinals graduated
both their quarterback and top running back last season and there have been
worries about their offensive output. Those were heightened last week when they
dropped a decision to southside rival Roncalli. Week two should dispel some of
the concern. Southport posted 65 points in blitzing Anderson 65- Meanwhile;
Roncalli gave some credence to the Cardinal performance in the opener. The
Rebels blasted Franklin Central 35-7.

Bloomington
North also continues to be impressive. For the second week in a row, the
Cougars put forth a very solid defensive effort. It resulted in a 31-7 romp
over Bedford-North Lawrence.

Pike fell in
the most high profile game of the night. The Red Devils faced defending state champion
Center Grove and struggled offensively in a 24-7 setback. Those struggles were
duplicated by Perry Meridian who was shut out by Decatur Central 27-0. The
Falcons have yet to dent the endzone this season. Lawrence Central fell victim
to a rapidly improving North Central team 16-14.

Columbus
North was leading city rival East 21-13 in the third quarter of their annual
war when Mother Nature stepped in. The teams suffered through lightning delays
of more than an hour and a half before the game was suspended and scheduled to
be completed on Saturday.
